Concrete technology with dual mixing process

Our MultiCON High-speed technology is new on the market. Its purpose is to considerably optimize the concrete production process and to enable the production of cement-reduced concretes – without affecting all of the essential strength and durability parameters.

The mixing process is realized in two steps. In the first step, a homogeneous suspension (slurry) is mixed at a mixing speed of up to 1,200 rpm and in a second step, the aggregates are stirred into it at approx. 50 rpm. The fluidizing effect as a result of very high mixing speeds in combination with limestone enables the production of concretes with a better processability and improved quality despite a cement substitution of up to 40 % and equivalent water savings. The concrete has both higher early and final strengths and also higher flexural strengths. The possible cement reduction by means of the new technology also results in possible CO2 savings of up to 30 %.

Revolution for the construction industry - Concrete preparation from desert sand using a three-step process

So far, fine and desert sands have been unsuitable for the production of concrete due to their grain size, their grain spectrum and their smooth surfaces. They can now be made available through an innovative process. The following three steps are necessary:

Step 1: Pulverization of fine or desert sand with roll mills.

At first, the fine sands must be pulverized to even finer sand flour.

Step 2: Granulation of pulverized fine and desert sand

The sand flour is pelletized to firm, strong and stable pellets of up to 16 mm in size using a MultiCON suspension. These non-water-absorbent pellets can now be used as aggregates for the production of high quality concretes.

Step 3: Production of concretes from fine and desert sand pellets

High quality concretes can be produced with these pellets. For this, the suspension prepared in the “MultiCON High-Speed Mixer” using the “Dual Mixing Technology” is stirred with pellets in a second mixer. The result is a cost-efficient and environmentally friendly high quality concrete. It is 25 percent lighter, hardens faster and after 24 hours it generally has higher strengths than conventional standard concretes.

Currently, we are carrying out promising tests so that these granules/pellets can also be produced in conventional mixers. This mixing technology, however, does not have the great potential for possible cement savings.
